We have already begun home delivery of healthy meals to students thanks to donations received so far and our partnership with mission-driven Everytable. We are also deeply concerned about our Emeritus students, who have been quarantined longer than most, given their vulnerability and high-risk age-group. Many students are faced with the sudden loss of their jobs, and thousands were already relying on campus meal programs and food pantries prior to the shift from on-site to online classes. SMC Foundation’s MEAL PROJECT is stepping up to help Santa Monica College students in need, including students formerly in foster care, homeless students, and Veterans, so they can persist in their education throughout the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
