After seeing similarities between Emma's abduction and her own, Alyssa began to believe that Miles was lying to her and had actually taken Emma, though her and boyfriend Grant Bradshaw's confrontation saw Miles deny taking Emma. As for Sarah, she attempted to convince Alyssa that Miles was responsible for Emma's abduction, which was later followed by the villainess sending Alyssa a video of Emma, while ordering Emma to tell her mother that she had twenty-four hours to find her or she would never see Emma again. Alyssa's quest led her to go to Miles for possible assistance, while Alyssa even suspected her best friend, Grace, of possibly taking Emma. Though Alyssa voiced her forgiveness toward Miles, the abduction left her overprotective of Emma, while Sarah portrayed a supportive and close friend for Alyssa-even going as far as suggesting that Alyssa and Emma head to a nearby park.Īlyssa followed her editor's advice, and afterwards, the evil Sarah abducted Emma from the park, with Alyssa noticing that her daughter was gone and calling police. The plan resulted in Sophie replacing Caroline as Alyssa's editor, with Sophie-now going by Sarah-being shown as Alyssa did a radio interview about her book, which was about being held for seven years by Miles (who was released from prison in the film's events). As a result, Child Protective Services were involved, leading to Sophie being placed in the system and placed in various foster homes. Sophie's childhood saw her raised by Miles in a single parent environment, though Miles' attempts at a better life for both him and Sophie resulted in leaving his young daughter at home alone. Sophie Simon is the only daughter of Miles Simon, whose wife (Sophie's mother) passed away decades prior to the film's events.
